AQUA SURF SHOP PRESENTS LOOSE CONNECTIONS 2
San Francisco, CA—Aqua Surf Shop is pleased to announce the opening of Loose Connections II, a special exhibition featuring the work of eleven photographers united by their art, their friends, and the ocean. The show begins on Friday, December 4th at Pkirkeby Fine Art & Framing in Potrero Hill.
 Rob Brodman, Scott Eggers, Paul Ferraris, Art Gimbel, Mark Gordon, Dickson A. Keyser, Jake Johnson, Matt Proehl, Adam Warmington, Sachi Cunningham, and Elizabeth Pepin are all Bay Area residents and photographers who share a deep connection to Ocean Beach. They have captured this landscape, and the special community to which they belong, in their personal imagery. Loose Connections II offers viewers a unique opportunity to see through the eyes and lenses of these ten committed surfers as they pursue a life of wave riding in an urban setting surrounded by natural beauty. 25% off all sales from the exhibit will go to benefit San Francisco Baykeeper. 

Catch a glimpse of the surfing lifestyle—and all the adventures that this passionate community experiences—at Aqua’s opening party for Loose Connections II on Friday, December 4th, from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. Feast on Mexican food from an on-site taco truck while live DJs supply the evening’s soundtrack.

Its a baby boy. Whale and rick rack card for Agathas baby shower. We love rick rack and finally found a fun way to incorporate it into a card. 5-1/4″x 4″, one-sided card, with whale/heart illustration and micro rick rack sewn detail.

Our good friends Becky and Sean were looking for a creative invitation for their ‘picnic at a winery’ wedding. They loved using the vintage tandem bike to illustrate thier marriage. The outcome of our first meeting was that the invite would be a 11×17 poster. Due to shipping concerns, we reduced the size. We don’t feel this  hurt the design one bit. The tandem clip art was combined with an original tree illustration and typesetting by Tim. Fonts used are Brothers from Emigre, and Kavaler Kursive. We love the casual illustration, messages within the art, and the overall feel of the final invitation.

Another fun multi-card wedding invitation for a Hawaiian wedding with a mainland reception. Erin and Tim were looking a modern beach style in blue and green. I really like like the old pirate map font, Dalliance from Emigre, It worked great with the other elements. I hope Erin and Tim have great wedding, cheers.

Another baby, another opportunity to design a fun card. Mikayla is having a baby and Greta, Maja and Agatha are hosting a shower for her. Inspiration for the card and shower is ‘modern with a touch of whimsy’. 5-1/2″ square, two-sided card, with nest/egg/heart illustration. Calvino is the font used.

The 32nd Cardiff Ice Cream Social is tomorrow, May 3rd. Thought I would post something about it since Greta and I have been buried in the planning if the I.C.S. Actually Greta has been neck-deep and I am just here to support her efforts, she’s amazing. The art above is one small part of the big event and I wanted to put something up to thank the artist. A few months ago Ferris Plock agreed to donate his talents to the I.C.S. I knew of him through his shirt illustration for Aleks’ surf shop so I asked if he could donate his amazing skills to our event. He didn’t think twice and despite being super busy with gallery openings, Ferris and Kelly Tunstall collaborated and delivered a fun and unique illustration. Thanks Ferris and Kelly, everyone loves the shirts. THE I.C.S. is from 10am-3pm Saturday, May 3rd, at Cardiff School. drop in for a scoop. Oh yeah, shirts will be available at the I.C.S. for only $10, more than 50% of sale goes to Cardiff schools.

Business card for MajaJane, aka; the purselady, sister, sister-in-law, aunt. Maja sews some amazing things and needed a business card to hand out when stopped with, “Wow! Where did you get that purse?” She created the bird illustration on her sewing machine. Then we combined it with some modern typography and colors that complement her modern style. MajaJane has a blog too and sells her stuff online at Etsy. Yeah Purse!

Logo and business card for our friend Steve. Steve has started his own sourcing company for clothing manufacturing. In the true sense of fashion Steve will be changing up his identity often. He choose this design as his first card. It is going be fun watching his business grow and to help him keep his identity fresh.

Poster and flyer for a Save The Waves Coalition fundraiser held at 111 Minna in San Francisco, March 2007. Aleks Petrovitch, of Aqua Surf Shop, painted the pelican art and wave illustration.
